Art and Culture

The Town fosters a strong community identity by encouraging the expression of arts and culture through various funded activities and programs.

Below are the art and cultural programs are run by the Town.

Community Art Development Program

This Program encourages groups to implement cultural activities and projects within the Town.

This may include film festivals, non-permanent public art displays, programs for seniors, youth and children, or cultural workshops and the like.

An amount of $2,000 is available annually for this program. 

Applications are open between February and April each year during which time you can find details of how to apply in our Public Notices listing.


Public Art Program

The Public Art Program aims to provide the community with a valuable art experience through project participation and display of art within the Town.

A community artist or organisation can tender to undertake a specific public art project within the Town at a specified location.

Art Exhibitions at The Boulevard Centre

The Town invites artists to submit an expression of interest to display their artwork for sale.  If selected, the artwork will be displayed at The Boulevard Centre, located on the lower level of the Cambridge Library at 99 The Boulevard, Floreat.

Works will be chosen for display on a two monthly roter, chosen in accordance to their suitability for public viewing and displayed in order of acceptance.  Local artists are strongly encouraged to apply.

Local Schools Art Exhibition

Each year the Town holds the Local Schools Art Exhibition encouraging aspiring young artists to participate in an exhibition to showcase their beautiful creations.

Held in September each year, local schools submit artwork from year groups kindy to year 6 with the chance to win some great prizes.

Displayed artworks are numbered, with the artist's name kept secret until the winners are announced at the awards ceremony.

A judging panel of local artists and art enthusiasts are called in to judge the artworks each year.

An Encouragement and a High Commendation are awarded to artworks in each year group.

There is also a prize for the overall winner of all year groups.
