Each year the Town of Cambridge hosts the Local Schools Junior Triathlon which sees teams of students from the local primary schools compete in a triathlon made up of a 150 metre swim leg, 3 kilometre bike leg and a 1 kilometre run home to the finish.

Generally held in mid November the race has been going since 2002 and is generously supported by local businesses Supa IGA Wembley and Brumby's City Beach.

The competition is split into three categories - boys, girls and mixed with each team comprises three members.  Each member of the team completes one leg of the race.

The focus of the event is on participation and aims to encourage physical activity, fitness and an appreciation of team sports.
