Local Planning Strategy

The Town is currently preparing a Local Planning Strategy (LPS) to provide strategic direction for future town planning and development, and the review of the Town's Town Planning Scheme No.1.

The LPS will consider a diverse range of issues including housing and demographics, transport and infrastructure, commercial activity and employment, tourism, community facilities and the natural environment.

The LPS will seek to address the Town's requirement to develop options to meet housing targets under the State Government's Directions 2031, draft Perth and Peel @ 3.5 Million and the draft Central Sub-regional Planning Framework.

September 2016 - late 2016

Community engagement to input into draft Strategy

Stage 1 - Late 2016

Stage 2 - March/April 2017 (approx)

Draft Strategy prepared and presented to Council

Mid 2017

Strategy submitted to Western Australian Planning Commission for consent to formally advertise

Mid 2017

Formal advertising of Local Planning Strategy

Late 2017 - early 2018

Council final adoption of LPS and submission to WAPC

Early - mid 2018

The Cambridge community will play an vital role in the development of the Local Planning Strategy and over the next 12 months there will be opportunities for you to be involved in activities to inform the Strategy.
