Cambridge Honours Local Volunteer Champions During Volunteer Week

The Town of Cambridge hosted a special celebration as part of National Volunteer Week on 22 May 2025, recognising the remarkable contributions of local volunteer groups and the individuals who support them.

The event was emceed by Luke Gibson, Director of Planning and Community Services, and attended by Chief Executive Officer Lisa Clack, who joined community members and award recipients in acknowledging the importance of volunteerism across the Town.

Three outstanding organisations were formally recognised for their contributions:

  • Friends of Bold Park were awarded Community Service Organisation of the Year, in recognition of their ongoing commitment to conservation, environmental education, and enhancing the natural beauty of Bold Park.
  • Floreat Surf Lifesaving Club received the Community Sporting Club of the Year Award for their leadership in beach safety, surf lifesaving training, and youth development initiatives.
  • Perth Tango Club was named Community Arts and Culture Organisation of the Year, celebrating their role in promoting cultural enrichment and connection through dance and music.

The evening featured a live musical performance by Kim Stolen and was attended by Councillors Susan Kennerly, Xavier Carr, Michael Le Page, Jane Cutler, and Kate Barlow. Cr Barlow also spoke about the Town's Spotlight on a Volunteer program and the importance of volunteerism in the community.

Throughout the event, the Periscope Productions crew were on site, capturing footage for an upcoming video highlighting the Town’s volunteers and community organisations.

The Town of Cambridge thanks all those who give their time and energy to support local initiatives and strengthen community spirit. This event was a meaningful reminder of the power of community and the positive change driven by volunteers across the Town.
