The Town of Cambridge hosted the annual Carols by the Lake at Galup (Lake Monger Reserve) on 1 December, celebrating the festive season and the International Day of People with Disability.

The free, family-friendly event featured a wide range of activities, including wheelchair basketball facilitated by Rebound WA, a sensory-sports hub from the WA All Abilities sensory container, and performances by Activ Heartbeats, Cambridge Musicians, and the Cambridge Community Choir. An Auslan interpreter was present on stage, ensuring an inclusive experience for all attendees.

Children enjoyed an animal farm, dodgeball, face painting, and a special visit from Santa and his pixies, while market stalls and local disability enterprises offered Christmas gifts, tea, coffee, and recycling services. The festive atmosphere was enhanced by roving entertainers, live music, and communal carolling led by the Community Choir.

Despite an unexpected downpour in the evening, the event was a resounding success, with families picnicking, singing, and embracing the holiday spirit in this vibrant community gathering.

Carols by the Lake once again showcased the Town’s commitment to inclusivity and festive joy, leaving attendees with cherished memories to start the season.
