Volunteering

IMG_8522.JPG

Volunteering plays a vital role in strengthening communities, enriching the lives of individuals and supporting those in need. For those organisations and individuals that receive help, volunteering provides vital support and care that may not otherwise be available.

For individuals who volunteer they benefit by:

  • Supporting causes, they care about
  • Feeling connected and valued as part of a team
  • Enhancing their social connection by meeting new people and making new friends
  • Developing new skills and knowledge
  • Providing support for vulnerable groups
  • Gaining a sense of purpose and fulfilment
  • Enhancing their employability prospects
  • Gaining confidence and self esteem
  • Having new and enriching experiences

Whatever your reason to volunteer may be, there are many opportunities available.

How we help

Our planting program relies on volunteers to help conserve the dunes at City Beach and Floreat Beach to mitigate the impact of climate change.

  • Monitor beach usage, impact and environmental changes
  • Conduct volunteer working days for beach front restoration and maintenance
  • Assist the Cambridge Town Council with problems associated with the coastline
  • Seek funding for coastal management projects
  • Monitor beach-front developments and assess impact
  • Encourage public interest in the preservation of the coastline

Floreat-Surf-Life-Saving-Club.png

Floreat Surf Life Saving Club

The primary role of Floreat SLSC is the protection of beach users and to save lives. The lifesaving duties are carried out by volunteers, from October to March. Patrols are rostered for Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays during the summer season, with each lifesaver patrolling approx. once per month.

Patrolling is a great way to give back to your community. When on patrol you will be required to observe swimmers, attend to first aid cases and perform rescues.

City of Perth Surf Life Saving Club

The City of Perth Surf Life Saving Club is located at City Beach in Perth, Western Australia. The club was formed in 1925 by members of the City of Perth Amateur Swimming Club, to provide a volunteer water safety and surf rescue service. It has now grown to become one of Australia’s largest and most successful surf lifesaving clubs. The club patrols a 2 km stretch of beach, between Swanbourne rifle range and Floreat groyne, from 1 October to 31 March. With lifesaving still as a primary goal, the club is quickly becoming a social hub for members of the community.
