City Beach coastal precinct lighting is being upgraded to bring the technology up to date and provide lighting levels adequate to meet AS1158. Stage one works included carpark lighting and CCTV (now complete). Stage two works will provide lighting to the pedestrian pathway network, including the demolition and removal of the existing high-mast tower lights which have reached their end of life.

The project scope includes:

  1. Detailed design and documentation for installation of lighting to the pedestrian pathway network;
  2. Tender drawings and specifications;
  3. RFT/Procurement;
  4. Regrading if built up turf areas adjacent to pathways so as not to affect lighting installation;
  5. Demolition and removal of mast tower lights; and
  6. Construction & installation of new lighting.

Progress Update

The Tender for Stage two works has been awarded and works are expected to commence in June 2024.

Regrading of built-up turf areas adjacent to pathways will begin in late May with completion prior to the lighting installation.

The high mast tower lighting replacement will be completed as Stage three and is currently advertised for Tender with works expected to immediately follow Stage two.
