In 2018, the Town of Cambridge undertook community consultation to help inform and develop an Activity Plan(PDF, 2MB) for Lake Monger (Galup) which was approved by council in September 2018(PDF, 5MB).

In 2021, a report(PDF, 13MB) was endorsed by Council to consolidate the older carparks along Lake Monger Drive construction into a new parking facility at the south-west corner of Lake Monger (Galup) Reserve,

The works will rationalise parking in the south portion of the reserve by the creation of a new carpark and the decommissioning of three existing carparks. The construction of the southwest carpark and the previously constructed southeast carpark will produce an additional 37 parking bays (inclusive of ACROD, pram, and senior priority bays).

Landscaping works will be undertaken along the fringes of the new car park and will include the planting of native and waterwise trees and plants.

The Australian Government has allocated the Town $563,608 through their Local Roads, Community and Infrastructure (LRCI) programme to construct the Lake Monger southwest carpark.

Current Works

All works are now complete, with minor defects and clean-up works to be undertaken over the next month.
