Tara Vista Park Upgrade
- Project scheduleMarch 2025 - June 2025
Last Updated: 18/12/2024
Tara Vista Park is a local neighbourhood park in West Leederville. The park assets are ageing and the playground, picnic table and furniture require renewal. Areas of turf are degraded with large areas of heavy shade from the trees and surface roots. The park will benefit from hydrozoning and native planting for more efficient water usage.
Scope
The Project scope includes:
- Community engagement to understand the current use of the park and identify community needs
- Design phase Procurement of contracts and services
- Construction
- Community input on the design will be sought from residents surrounding the park, and park users in the coming months.
Progress Updates
Project scoping and engagement have commenced. The Town reached out to users of Tara Vista Park to seek feedback on the use and values of the park via an online survey which is now closed.
We received a total of 59 responses which have been summarised below:
- The primary activities in the park are dog walking (77%), passive recreation (49%), playing in the playground (38%) and active recreation in the open turf areas (20%);
- Users placed the highest values on the existing trees (54%), open turf areas (50%), playground facilities (42%) and the views and aesthetic of the park (52%).
The Town recently sought further feedback on the playground equipment replacement, presenting two preferred design options for consideration. The responses have been reviewed and there was a strong preference in the responses for Concept Option 2. We will now progress with detailed design and procurement of this playground option.
A concept design for the overall park upgrade has been developed to include the outcomes of the survey and can be viewed in the attached documents.
