Wembley Golf Course - Tree Survey
- Project scheduleOctoer 2024 - May 2025: See Below for Progress Updates
Last Updated 02/04/2025
The Wembley Golf Course is the Town’s largest land asset, with its own land use category within the Town’s Urban Forest Strategy, in recognition of the significant mature tree assets on the land, including Tuart trees.
Works include the pick up of all trees using GIS so that they can be loaded into the Towns asset management system. The Tree survey will determine the total number of trees and species, health, size, and associated risks, and integrate this data into the IntraMaps system for public access. This critical work will assist in the management of these trees as part of the Towns Urban Forest.
Progress Updates
To date we have surveyed 5,766 trees. Of those picked up so far we have 2500+ in good health, 1200+ in fair health, 400+ in poor health and 400+ in very poor health.
At this stage we have identified 420+ dead trees, of which some will be retained as habitat trees for fauna and biodiversity outcomes.
The top ten species are shown below with Tuart being the predominant species across the site.
Below is a graphical representation of the mortality rates by species which indicate that Jarrah present the highest percentage failure rate within the site. This could be an indication of Phytopthora is present within the course. This may need to be investigate further once the survey is complete.
All works on site are expected to be completed by end of May 2025 with data being uploaded to Intramaps following the on-ground works being completed.
