The Town of Cambridge Ranger Services team held the inaugural Canines of Cambridge event on May 26th at Perry Lakes.
The goal was to provide an entertaining and informative event that raised awareness of Pet Ownership and Community Safety.
To maximise our success we partnered with RSPCA and Shenton Park Dog Refuge along with the Floreat Lions Club community group to ensure we reached out to the whole community.
We also had additional guests and stallholders from WA Police, St Johns Ambulance, The Mighty Booths, Perth Bouncy Castle Hire and Park Off Coffee. Prizes were kindly donated by Coffee Table Delights and Grantham St Vets, Woolworths, Floreat Lions and the Town of Cambridge.
The Ranger Services team alone helped raise over $1000 for our partner charities.
All these teams happily donated their services and time and helped to make this event the success it was. We couldn't have done it without them.
Owning a pet is a huge responsibility and the Town of Cambridge Rangers work tirelessly to educate and help our residents with their four legged friends. In the past 12 months alone Rangers have attended over 600 dog related incidents including reuniting 200 owners with their lost pets, 60 barking dog complaints and over 40 dog attacks. There were also over 300 calls for Dogs off Leash.
Rangers spend a big part of the year working with community groups to find ways of positively engaging with the community to raise awareness. We championed the "Scoop The Poop" initiative with both West Leederville Primary and City Beach Primary and gave the children a voice after they raised concerns about all the uncollected faeces found in there parks. Some of the Banners that were created can be found around the park today.
We continue to support RSPCA to help train and educate the community through our schools and through our support of their Dog Training classes at Holyrood Pavilion and Beecroft Park..
The Rangers thank all the sponsors, partners and vendors who have given their time, and most importantly to all the guests who came out to the event and helped make it so successful. Plans are already under way for Canines 2 in March 2020 which will be even bigger and better.
