'Promoting the participation of persons with disabilities & their leadership: taking action on the #2030Agenda'.

International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) is a United Nations sanctioned day that is celebrated internationally on 3 December. It aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability and celebrate their achievements and contributions. This year the Town of Cambridge in partnership with Vision Australia, will mark the day by hosting a No Lights No Lycra dance class.

Please join us in the celebration as we turn off the lights and crank up the tunes to release our inhibitions, move our moods and work up a wild sweat.

Please feel free to bring a gold coin donation to support Vision Australia with the purchase of much needed paediatric equipment for their children's services.

  • is a place for people to come and dance freely in a friendly, non-threatening, drug and alcohol free atmosphere.
  • is an event that occurs in a dimly lit room: with the lights low people can truly dance without worrying about what they look like.
  • is a time to dance independently in the company of others – in order for people to truly lose themselves in the music it is important to keep talking to a minimum.
  • is not about technique and being a ‘good’ dancer, it’s about the experience of dancing with no one watching and the joy that this brings.
  • is a place to exercise at your own pace while having fun.
  • promotes a healthy mind and a healthy body.
  • is about making dance accessible for everyone.
  • It is an inclusive event – open to all ages, genders, backgrounds and demographics.
  • is a place to shake out the stresses of the week, let go of your inhibitions and completely be yourself.
  • Wear comfortable clothes, just no Lycra.

All Town of Cambridge events are accessible and inclusive.  Should you have any specific access and inclusion requirements please contact the Community Development team on 9347 6000.

Register now as places are limited.
