National Recycling Week Events

National Recycling Week runs from 11-17 November and brings a national focus on the environmental benefits of recycling. 

Look out for daily recycling tips on the Town's social media, new drop off points for additional recycling streams and new initiatives! 

The Town will be hosting a series of special free community recycling events.

 Attend all sessions or pick and choose which interest you and register your place. 

All events will be held at Cambridge Library, 99 The Boulevard, Floreat. 


Rubbish to Resource

Date: Monday 11 November and Tuesday 12 November 

Time: 1pm - 2pm

Explore the what, why and where of household waste through hands-on problem-solving activities and discussion in this introductory workshop. Attendees explore and learn what goes in each bin, where it goes, what happens to it there and the impact on our environment if waste isn’t managed well.  This workshop will highlight our three-bin GO (Garden Organics) system (2 sessions)

Smart Shopping 

Date:Wednesday 13 November 

Time: 1pm - 2pm

Please note this workshop is only for those who have attended the Rubbish to Resource workshop.

Learn how to make smarter decisions while shopping for everyday items and reduce packaging waste at the source. Attendees will explore different types of packaging, what can and can’t be recycled, the pros and cons of buying in bulk, and where different kinds of waste are likely to end up.

Beyond the Bins: Recycling in the Town

Date:Wednesday 13 November and Thursday 14 November 

Time: Wednesday 5.30pm - 6.30pm, Thursday 4pm - 5pm

Learn all about the recycling opportunities we have in the Town of Cambridge in addition to our 3 bin GO kerbside system.

Organics Recycling 

Date: Friday 15 November

Time: 1pm - 2.30pm

Learn about why organics recycling is so important, and what your options are with Waste Education Officer Peg Davies. Peg has been talking rubbish for years and she will show you easy and useful ways to make beautiful compost with whatever is available so you don't need to buy fertiliser again! Peg has been involved in several community gardens and assisted many schools in creating easy and affordable garden material. See Peg Davies on the ABC's Gardening Australia program.
