Pool Cover and Plastics Drop-off Day
The Town of Cambridge is trialling an Extended Plastics Drop Off Day at the Admin Centre to collect a range of plastics. These items will be locally processed and used in the Australian manufacturing industry.
You are invited to bring your clean plastics, and asked to separate lids, bungs, rubber seals, rings of bottles. These will be received, but are often of a different plastic type so must be collected separately.
LDPE: Pool covers, soft plastics, plastic bags, shrink wrap, rubbish bags, reticulation pipe, bubble wrap.
CRITERIA: Mainly metal and oil free. Labels and tape removed. In regards to pool covers and reticulation pipes please separate the plastic joints and metal pieces.
HDPE #2: Milk Bottles, Shampoo bottles, Drums, Softeners, Pipe, plastic pallets, broken megabins or nally bins and any other #2 plastic. Black #2 is also welcome.
CRITERIA: No metal. Labels are ok but not covering the whole plastic piece. Milk bottles need to be reasonably rinsed. Oil bottles, car oil drums, coolant drums and chemical drums in general must be triple rinsed leaving the container with no residue before we can receive them.
PPE #5: Children’s car seats, corflute, plant pots, seedling trays, storage tubs, plastic pallets, buckets, plastic chairs, plastic clamshells, truck mudguards and any other #5 plastic.
CRITERIA: No metal. Labels are ok but not covering the whole plastic piece. Remove handles from crates. Car seat components need to be separated and only plastics brought for recycling.
ABS #7: Children’s car seats, Lego bricks, broken children’s toys, ABS plastic sheets, hard hats (helmets), keyboards, plastics from electronic components, wall sockets.
CRITERIA: No metal. Labels are ok but not covering the whole plastic piece. Any handles need to be separated as well as the insides of the hard hats (helmets). Car seat components need to be separated and only plastics brought for recycling.
