The Town of Cambridge's Strategic Community Plan 2013-2023 and Corporate Business Plan identify a number of actions under the 'Our Natural Environment' priority area that encompass an environmentally sustainable focus. The Town has been implementing these actions over the past few years, however, now see the opportunity to bring these actions and actions identified by the community under one strategic document.

A Sustainability Strategy will enable the community and Council to identify clear environmental objectives, actions and priorities.

The engagement will be led by Emerge Associate consultancy in conjunction with Creating Communities who are currently assisting the Town in developing the Age - Friendly Community Plan.

The community engagement process will assist the Town in forming a common view on what is meant by Sustainability, and determine the community's expectations of the Town in promoting and achieving sustainable outcomes. It is considered important that this process is run somewhat independent of the Town's staff so that the Council and community have a genuine opportunity to influence the Strategy.
