The ongoing revegetation works at Lake Monger Reserve was helped along by students from local primary schools who planted native seedlings as part of our annual Arbor Day celebration.

On Friday, 2 June students from City Beach Primary, The International School, Lake Monger Primary and Wembley Primary gathered at Lake Monger Reserve to learn about the local birdlife and help with planting some 400 seedlings.

The Town first celebrated Arbor Day in June 2008 with a planting session and bird watching event, followed by a ceremonial mayoral tree planting.

This tradition has continued ever since and on this occasion the students were joined by the Town of Cambridge Mayor, Keri Shannon, who with the help of three keen gardeners planted the ceremonial tree.

After a morning of hard work, the students were rewarded with a barbecue lunch on what was a warm and sunny day.

The Town would like to thank community groups, Birdlife Western Australia and Cambridge Rotary, who assist in the planning and running of this enjoyable and educational event each year.
