Last year Floreat Lions began it's In My Community Initiative which provided funding and benefited many local community groups and schools. To celebrate the end of the club year they are running a special Floreat Lions In My Community Initiative 2018 increasing the sponsorship prize from the usual $500 to an amount up to the value of $10,000.

This great initiative seeks to promote community projects that are undertaken within the clubs boundary, including the Town of Cambridge and awards a cash prize of up to $10,000 to support a club, community group or organisation that demonstrates community spirit and promotes community involvement.

Eligible projects include those that will support youth, disadvantaged, isolated or vulnerable community members to participate in their local communities and build foundations for positive change including:

  • Building social connection/cohesion in the community
  • Improving physical and mental health and wellbeing
  • Improving the natural environment or community infrastructure/facilities
  • Increasing the active and meaningful participation across the local community

Examples of eligible projects are:

  • Bringing neighbours together to build a community vegetable garden.
  • Establishing a friendly neighbourhood initiative - bringing local community members together to talk about and plan ongoing ways to bring people together.
  • Set up costs for a playgroup and/or interest group that brings in people across communities.
  • Renovating a space for use across community groups.

If you have a community project that needs financial assistance in some way, write to Floreat Lions Club and tell them about your project, the community members it supports and how the funds donated will be used to develop and enhance community spirit.

Entries close for applications at 12 pm Friday, 11 May 2018, successful applicant/s will be notified before Saturday, 30 June 2018.
