Lake Monger Activity Plan Update.

Thank you for your interest in the progress of the Lake Monger Activity Plan. The insight and ideas expressed by the community in the September 2017 survey provided vital information for the next phase of the project The detailed outcomes of Community consultation on the draft Lake Monger Activity Plan were deliberated at a Council Forum in February 2018. Following the Forum a series of proposed changes was presented by The Administration for Council Consideration at the 27 March 2018 Ordinary Council Meeting (CR18.36)

With regards to item (iv) of the Council decision at the 27 March 2018 Ordinary Council Meeting (CR18.36), a further report was considered by Council on 22 May 2018 (CR18.78). It was decided by Council that:- (i) the Expression of Interest invitation for Lake Monger Food and Beverage Licence be approved by Council. (ii) the Lake Monger Recreation Club be invited to make a proposal to the Town for the provision of food and beverages to the public from its premises. (iii) the Town provide a report to the June council meeting with suggested amendments to the Town’s leasing policy and lease documents to allow the Town to grant a limited license to sporting clubs and associations where there is no equivalent and competing private operator providing goods in particular catering and beverages to members of the public in the vicinity of the Town’s facility.

Following discussion with the Lake Monger Recreation Club, they have indicated to the Town that they would like to offer hot and cold beverages to the public. Rather than progress the EOI process it is proposed the Town negotiate directly with the Lake Monger Recreation Club regarding the sale of non-alcoholic hot and cold beverages to the public and amend their lease to the satisfaction of both parties. The negotiations should include certainty of opening hours to ensure needs of Park users are met. The plan has now been finalised in response to the above directions of Council and will be discussed at next week's Community and Resources Committee meeting.

This is an opportunity for the public to ask questions about the report or make a deputation to the Committee regarding the report.
