Marlow Street (Cambridge - Ruislip) widen around median islands

  • Project scheduleNovember 2021 - December 2021
  • Completion Date31 December 2021

Street trees within the centre islands along Marlow Street between Cambridge and Ruislip Street were one of the first treatments of its time to provide traffic calming measures in the Perth metropolitan area. Unfortunately, the roots from these street trees are now damaging Town infrastructure by lifting and cracking the road surface and verge treatments. It is proposed to keep these street trees but widen the centre islands outwards in order to address the damage caused. This widening treatment will mean that the road edges will also need widening directly adjacent to properties and other infrastructure.

A plan of the proposed treatment was presented to Council at its meeting held on 23 March 2021, seeking approval from Council to proceed with the community engagement process to provide feedback on the concept design. The engagement process ran for a four week period, commencing 19 April 2021, and closed 19 May 2021. The results of the engagement will be presented to Council at its meeting held on 22 June 2021.
