This project brings to fruition a number of elements identified during the extensive community consultation on the Activity Plan for Lake Monger which was approved by Council in 2018.
This activity space will focus on physical challenges for children aged ten and above. The Town engaged local primary school students to help determine, prioritise and shortlist play elements for Lake Monger South East activation. The most popular items were the ninja and parkour obstacle course. The existing playground will remain to provide play for the younger children in the family. The existing barbecue facilities will be improved through installation of some tables and shelters within proximity to make this a great space for picnics and children’s birthdays.
Other supporting works include the installation of a new carpark with ACROD bays, a universal access toilet block, an upgrade of the basketball pad to cater for three on three social games, new exercise equipment on the circuit path and space for food or coffee vans.
The three on three basketball pad is installed and posts and surface is to be completed soon. Stage one of new paths is complete, furniture walls and kerbs are being constructed along with the ground being prepared for the parkour equipment and rubber. The fitness equipment is due to be delivered in the coming weeks, which will complete the project.
