Local Government Elections

Local government ordinary elections are held every two years on the third Saturday in October for all local governments statewide.

The next local government elections will be held on 21 October 2023. It will be run by the Western Australian Electoral Commission (WAEC) for most local governments across the state, including the Town of Cambridge. 

The Mayor and Council Members are each elected for a four year term on alternate years, with half of the elected members being elected every two years. 

In this election, the Town is providing you with options on how you can vote. You can:

  • Apply for a postal vote by completing a 

Coast Ward Postal Vote Application Form(PDF, 826KB)

or a

Wembley Ward Postal Vote Application Form(PDF, 826KB)

  • Vote in person on Saturday, 21 October or 
  • Vote early.

 Key dates

  • Close of enrolments for electoral rolls – Friday 25 August, 5pm - CLOSED
  • Opening of Candidate nominations – Thursday 31 August
  • Close of Candidate nominations – Thursday 7 September, 4pm - CLOSED
  • Election Day and close of polls – Saturday 21 October, 6pm
