Mayor - Keri Shannon

Elected in 2015, Mayor Shannon has lived in the Town of Cambridge for 16 years. She brings both public and private sector experience to the Council having worked as a lawyer for over 20 years, firstly in litigation and for the past 10 years as a legal counsel for mining and other service companies. She has a commerce degree majoring in Finance and Accounting, and a company secretary qualification with the Institute of Governance Australia.  She is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has served on the ethics committee at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and as a volunteer for St Vincent de Paul and community legal centres.

Mayor Shannon believes that local government serves a unique role in residents' lives and wants to ensure that the amenity and liveability of the Town’s suburbs is enhanced. She understands the importance of improved transparency in Council practices, and supports the valuable contribution sporting and community groups make to the vibrancy of the Town.  Mayor Shannon is committed to developing a robust planning framework to allow measured increases in density to comply with the state government’s requirements, whilst retaining the unique character of each suburb.
