The Wembley Golf Course grounds maintenance team depot contains an office building that’s aged and nearing end of life.

In addition, the team primarily works outdoors and requires appropriate changeroom facilities. The existing demountable ablution block does not meet current requirements, and staff also use part of Tractor Shed 1 (B0428c) for lockers and changing. This arrangement reduces available space for machinery and chemical storage, leading to the initiation of a separate project for the WGC Staff Change Room (C6428).

Following stakeholder meetings in August and September 2025, it was agreed to combine the two separate projects into a single design project. This approach ensures that both needs are addressed together, avoids conflicting construction activities, and provides a more cohesive, holistic solution for staff facilities.

The Town plans to design a new, modern operational building that will provide improved amenities and accommodate the current and future needs of the Grounds Maintenance Team.

The decision to consolidate the projects resulted in a delayed project start, providing additional time to refine the scope. This period also enabled further research into contemporary golf course facility design and equipment, supported by team attendance at industry conferences and facility tours. These activities informed the incorporation of suitable innovations into the project scope, within the constraints of the approved budget.
