Find My Bin Day & Bin Services Information
Have you left enough space?
To ensure your bin can be emptied, place it with enough clear space around it. At least 1 metre from trees, fences, walls, cars, poles and overhead obstructions; such as trees, tree canopy and power lines and 50 cm between bins so the truck’s arm can safely grip, lift and return each one.
Other things residents need to know.
- Put bins out by 6am: trucks may arrive anytime from early morning
- 1 metre clear space around the bin: then the truck’s arm can safely reach it
- No cars in front: the truck cannot reach bins blocked by vehicles
- Keep weight under 70kg: heavy bins cannot be lifted safely
- Don’t pack waste tightly: contents must fall out freely when emptied
- Bin facing the road: place the bin with the lid opening toward the street
- Lid fully closed: no overflow or jammed items
- Avoid placing under tree branches: canopy can block the lifting arm
- Place bins on level ground: prevents tipping and improves safe lifting
- Correct bins: make sure you are using a Town of Cambridge bin
