Perry Lakes | Playground Replacement: Engagement & Design
- Project typeEngagement & Design
- Project scheduleMarch 2024 to TBA
Background
The Perry Lakes Management Plan 2021-2031 and Perry Lakes Masterplan 2021-2031 were endorsed by Council at the Ordinary Council Meeting in November 2021.
One of the key outcomes of these plans is that playground areas are to be improved to increase activation of the reserve. The playground south of West Lake was identified for an upgrade to a regional-scale play space. The Town commenced engagement and design for a new regional playground in 2023; the results of the community consultation will assist in the design of the new playground.

Progress Update
Initial community engagement and preliminary concept designs have been completed.
To assist with the design of the new playground, the Town undertook a public survey in March 2024. We received a total of 106 responses, and the results have been summarised in the report linked HERE(PDF, 122KB)
A preliminary concept design for the playground has been developed to include the outcomes of community engagement and is linked HERE(PDF, 1MB) for review and feedback. This high-level plan aims to present an early-stage representation of the project and serve as a discussion tool to facilitate public feedback.
The Town sought applications from the community to participate in a focus group to meet with the Town and further develop the concept design.
The Town held the first focus group meeting in May 2024, with attendees providing valuable feedback. The attendees were very positive regarding the Town’s approach to the project and generally in favour of the concept design prepared.
The Town will continue to explore funding opportunities.
Importantly, the Town will have the opportunity to continue capturing our community’s vision for Perry Lakes as part of the LAMP project, ensuring current and future community needs are met.
The LAMP is a major strategic project that will guide the Town's management and investment in community facilities and open spaces for leisure and recreation.
More information on the LAMP is available on the Town's website HERE
