Town Council

The Town of Cambridge Council comprises nine members elected by the community, a popularly elected mayor and eight councillors.

Council members are the Town's decision-makers, responsible for:

  • developing council policy;
  • directing and controlling the affairs of the Town;
  • making decisions on project priorities and the plans to achieve them; and
  • periodically reviewing the Town's programs and performance.

Your Mayor and Councillors

The Town of Cambridge has two wards - Coast and Wembley - each represented by four councillors and presided over by a popularly elected mayor.

The Council has several committees and working groups attended by elected members. Representatives and delegates from Cambridge are also involved in various external working groups and committees.

Local Government Elections

Local government elections are held every two years on the third Saturday in October. Elected members are elected for a four-year term, with half the Elected Members' terms concluding at each biennial election. The Mayor is elected by the community for a four-year term.
