The Perry Lakes replenishment scheme was implemented to re-establish permanent water in Perry Lakes, by diverting excess water from the Herdsman Main Drain into Perry Lakes. The project involved upgrading and improving existing drainage infrastructure and installing of a pump station next to Newman College.
Since its inception in 2023 the Perry Lakes replenishment scheme has produced inconsistent outcomes, and an audit of the pump system has been proposed to investigate the performance of the scheme and make recommendations to bring the scheme in line with community expectations.
A project working group comprising Town officers, local residents and Friends of Perry Lakes representatives helped shape the consultancy scope through meetings and correspondence.
The system scheme audit has been completed, including review of design, maintenance and performance records, staff consultation, and site inspections. The consultant has provided recommendations, and the project will now progress to the prioritised implementation of the recommended actions.
