Walking Trails

Overview

Walking is a great way to explore the Town of Cambridge and our unique bushland environment.

There are many walking trails throughout the area of varying lengths and landscapes that will get you active and learning more about the Town's history and local bushland.

The Town's Walking Strategy provides an overview of existing trails and proposed new trails, highlighting the need to include accessibility and inclusion in our trail development program. The Walking Trail Strategy can be found here(PDF, 3MB)

The Whadjuk network of walking trails lies on Noongar land, connecting remnant bushland areas in the western suburbs of Perth. Learn more about these local walking trails at the Whadjuk Walking Trail website including the Yange Kep Bidi and the Bush to Beach Trail.

Bidi Bo Djinoong

The Bidi Bo Djinoong (translation "Trail with views forever") lies on Whadjuk Noongar land with directional marking being depicted with the Quondong. This 6.1km trail offers magnificent ocean views over the Wardun (Indian Ocean) to Rottnest Island and wonderful city views from Kulbardi Walk through the superb bushland remnant of Bold Park. This trail links with the Bush to Beach Trail near the southern border of Bold Park and heads west then north. It ends at Bold Park Aquatic where it joins the central section of the Yange Kep Bidi.

The trail is suitable for all walkers with a moderate level of fitness required along the Bold Park Kulbardi Walk where the path surfaces vary. Some of the bushland pathways through Bold Park are unsealed.

The Bidi Bo Djinoong is dog and cycle friendly however through Bold Park, bicycles are prohibited. The alternate route continues north along Kalinda Drive and then heads east on The Boulevard to end the walk at Bold Park Aquatic.

The Bidi Bo Djinoong can be enjoyed throughout the year and abundant wild flowers will be appreciated in the spring. The bird life is spectacular. As the weather in Perth in the summer can become very hot, it is always advisable to bring plenty of drinking water, and to wear sunscreen and a hat. Mobile phone coverage is good, and use of maps is available with most providers.
