Background

In mid-2025, Wembley Golf Course (WGC) invested in two new DryJect golf green aerators.

Current mechanical aeration methods use spikes to create small holes in the turf. These holes are subsequently filled in with sand, encouraging circulation of nutrients, soil, air, and water deeper into the grass roots. However, this compromises the playing surface for several weeks.

The DryJect machines will replace the previous aerators, using a technology that injects high pressure water (to break up the underlying soil), immediately followed by substitute material (e.g. sand). This process means that the holes created for aeration are immediately and smoothly filled, leaving surfaces ready for play within one hour.

Refer to DryJect’s brochure (link) and WGC’s article dated 20 August 2025 (link).

To support the new DryJect machinery, new sand bins are intended to be constructed, which will store clean, high-grade sand required for the machines.

Scope of works

  • Construct sand storage bins to provide a reliable source of clean, high-grade sand for use in the DryJect aerators.
