All dogs within the Town of Cambridge over three months of age must be microchipped and registered. If your dog is sterilised, registration is available at a discounted rate upon proof of sterilisation. Dog registrations expire on 31 October unless a lifetime registration applies.
Registration
To register your dog with the Town of Cambridge, ensure you have digital copies of all relevant documents, including:
- Proof of microchipping
- Proof of sterilisation (if applicable)
Register your dog or renew your dog's registration using the Animal Registration form.
Once your application is received, the Ranger Services and Community Safety Team will contact you regarding payment. The registration will not be processed until payment is made.

Microchipping
All dogs over the age of three months must be microchipped. To register your dog, you must provide proof of microchipping. A veterinarian, veterinary nurse, or suitably qualified person from a registered training provider can implant a microchip in your dog.
You can prove your dog is microchipped by providing either a microchip certificate from a veterinarian on the veterinary surgery's letterhead, or a Statutory Declaration(PDF, 45KB).
Sterilisation
To receive the reduced registration fee, proof of sterilisation is required. You can provide this proof with either a signed sterilisation certificate from a veterinarian on the veterinary surgery's letterhead, or a Statutory Declaration(PDF, 45KB).
If you register your dog prior to sterilisation, you can apply for a sterilisation refund once your dog has been sterilised by completing the Dog Sterilisation Refund Request Form.
Transfer your dog
If you are moving to the Town of Cambridge from another WA Council, please complete the Transfer an Animal Form.
If you are no longer the owner your dog (i.e. you have sold or given away your dog), to enable the dog to be registered with its new owner please complete a Change of Ownership Form.
Deceased dog
A Deceased Animal Form can be completed in the event of your dog becoming deceased.
