Do you want a thriving garden that waters itself?
Wicking beds are a self-irrigating method of growing, perfect for our long dry summers and for small spaces. They were first developed by and Australian engineer in the 1970s to assist drought stricken villages in Africa. Methods have evolved since then but principles are similar. Participants will learn how to set up a simple wicking bed in a plastic storage box. The method can then be adjusted to larger containers such as IBC storage containers and even to convert raised garden beds using a pond liner to create the water reservoir . Having water freely available makes it perfect for growing salad greens, Asian greens or herbs.
Discover the elements required for a perfect wicking bed to enhance your garden and keep your plants happy and healthy all throughout summer.
Enjoy an easy to maintain garden bed that can grow on any surface.
