Access to Opportunity 2026 explores inclusive employment

The Town of Cambridge hosted 'Access to Opportunity' at The Boulevard Centre on 18 September 2026, bringing together community members, employers, service providers and local organisations to explore employment opportunities for people with disability.
Attendees heard first-hand experiences from an employee with disability and an inclusive employer, and joined small-group discussions about employment.
The evening also provided opportunities to connect with other attendees and visit information stalls hosted by service providers, peak bodies and local organisations.
"For the Town of Cambridge, our Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2023–2028 provides a framework for improving accessibility and inclusion across our community," Mayor Gary Mack said.
"That commitment shows up in what people experience in everyday life: whether they can access a service, participate in community activities, or have a fair opportunity to apply for a job and progress in their career.
"Local government has a responsibility here, both as an employer and through the relationships we build with local businesses and our community. Inclusive employment offers benefits across all three," he added.
"For individuals, fair and meaningful work can provide income, independence and greater choice. For businesses, accessible recruitment can open the door to skills and perspectives they might otherwise miss. For our community, it means more people have the opportunity to contribute and participate."
The Town thanks all organisations, agencies and local government partners who contributed to the event, and everyone who attended.
