The Town of Cambridge is inviting the community to help guide the future planning of places and facilities that support sport, recreation, wellbeing, and community connection.
Council unanimously endorsed the Stakeholder and Community Engagement Plan for the Town’s Leisure Assets Master Plan (LAMP) on 11 August 2026, setting out how residents and other stakeholders can contribute to its development.
The LAMP will provide a long-term roadmap for managing and investing in the Town’s leisure assets. It will consider how facilities are used, how community needs may change, and where assets or services could be improved, adapted, or transformed.
A community survey – open to everyone – will run from September to November 2026. It will gather feedback on community values, priorities, and concerns to inform the development of options and recommendations.
An Engagement Outcomes Report will be released in January 2027, summarising engagement activities, stakeholder participation, and key findings.
In May 2027, Elected Members will be presented with the draft LAMP for consideration and finalisation ahead of public consultation. Further consultation activities and project timeframes will be set once the draft LAMP has been adopted by Council.
The Town will seek input from residents, local businesses, sporting clubs and associations, community organisations, schools, young people, facility operators, and government agencies.
Engagement will also include Whadjuk Noongar Traditional Owners and Aboriginal organisations, people with disability, and access and inclusion groups.
Other engagement activities will include direct stakeholder consultation, meetings with sporting and recreation groups, youth engagement, and a youth forum. Project updates, fact sheets, and FAQs will keep the community informed.
Community feedback will be considered alongside technical assessments, demographic trends, asset performance and long-term financial planning. The completed LAMP will include an implementation framework outlining potential actions, timing, responsibilities and resourcing requirements.
Once the draft LAMP is adopted for public consultation, the community will have another opportunity to review its recommendations and provide feedback before the plan is finalised.
Endorsement of the engagement plan does not approve any development, facility change, or future project. Recommendations with financial, operational, or strategic implications will be presented separately to Council.
Regular maintenance and safety-related works will continue to be managed as required.
Information about the LAMP, the survey, and opportunities to participate will be published on the Town’s website and promoted through the Town’s communication channels.
