The Town's Local Planning Strategy (LPS) was endorsed by the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) on 30 April 2021. It provides strategic direction for future town planning and development, and review of the Town of Cambridge Local Planning Scheme No. 1.
The Local Planning Strategy considers a diverse range of issues including housing and demographics, transport and infrastructure, commercial activity and employment, tourism, community facilities and the natural environment. The Local Planning Strategy seeks to address the Town's requirement to develop options to meet housing targets under the State Government's Directions 2031, Perth and Peel @ 3.5 Million and the Central Sub-regional Planning Framework.
Formal advertising of the draft Local Planning Strategy concluded on 30 March 2020; the Town would like to thank everyone who provided a submission. On 26 May 2020, Council considered a report on the outcomes of advertising, and adopted the draft Local Planning Strategy for submission to the Western Australian Planning Commission. On 30 April 2021 the Local Planning Strategy was endorsed by the Western Australian Planning Commission.
