Background

The Town’s bus shelter Program facilitates the installation of two to three new bus shelters each financial year. This initiative is supported by the Public Transport Authority (PTA) through the Bus Shelter Subsidy Program (BSSP), which provides a subsidy of up to 50% of the total cost for each shelter.

Under the BSSP, the Town is responsible for identifying eligible bus stops for upgrade and submitting recommendations to the PTA. Once approved, the PTA oversees the scheduling and construction of the new shelters.

Project Updates

The three sites for the previous stage have now been successfully completed, bringing improved comfort, safety, and accessibility for public transport users across the community. The new steel bus shelters feature perspex sides for greater visibility and are installed on accessibility-compliant concrete hardstands.
