Background

The (Galup) Lake Monger Management Plan 2024-2034 and Perry Lakes Management Plan 2021-2031 outlines the requirement for biennial fauna surveys.

To meet this requirement, the Town is engaging contractors to undertake surveys of local fauna species and habitats within the natural areas of Galup (Lake Monger) and Perry Lakes Reserve. These areas provide important refuge for a wide range of species, including birds, turtles, frogs, reptiles, bats, possums, quendas, and invertebrates.

The survey findings will help determine whether fauna diversity is improving as a result of ongoing revegetation and weed management efforts, as well as identify any conservation-significant species present. This information will guide future site management, rehabilitation programs, and pest control initiatives.
