Wembley Primary School celebrates its 90th anniversary on 30 June 2026, marking nine decades of education, community connection, and local history.
Since opening in 1936, the school has grown alongside the suburb, educating generations of local families. It remains an important part of Wembley’s identity and a valued community hub in the Town of Cambridge.
The Town congratulates the Wembley Primary community on reaching this milestone, noting that generations of local families have been connected to the school, and that this anniversary is an opportunity to recognise its enduring contribution to education, community life, and the suburb’s history.
The Town’s relationship with the school has included ongoing collaboration on student safety and access around the school precinct, covering pedestrian routes, crossings, traffic management, and ‘Kiss and Drive’ arrangements.
One long-standing example is the Grantham Street pedestrian underpass, which has provided an important access route for students and families for many years. The underpass mural, created in 1998 with the involvement of Wembley Primary School students, remains a well-known community feature.
Wembley Primary School has also participated in local civic and community initiatives supported by the Town, including student art programmes. Artwork by Wembley pupils is on display at the Town Administration Centre as part of the Town’s community programme showcasing creations by local students.
