The Perry Lakes Management Plan 2021-2031 and Perry Lakes Masterplan 2021-2031 were endorsed by Council at the Ordinary Council Meeting on 23 November 2021.

One of the key outcomes of these plans is that playground areas are to be improved to increase activation of the reserve. The playground south of West Lake was identified to be upgraded to a regional scale play space. This playground is scheduled for replacement in 2024/25. The Town commenced engagement and design for a new regional playground in 2023; the results of the community consultation will assist in the design of the new playground.

The project scope includes the engagement and design for a new regional scale playground at Perry Lakes to replace the existing playground that has reached the end of its life. Once these preparations have been made and the concepts designs are drafted, a report will be prepared for executive and council endorsement.

Progress Update

Engagement and design is underway.

To assist with design of the new playground the Town reached out to all users to provide feedback through a public survey which was undertaken in March 2024. We received a total of 106 responses and the results have been summarised in the report linked HERE(PDF, 122KB)(PDF, 122KB)

A preliminary concept design for the playground replacement has been developed to include these outcomes and are linked  HERE(PDF, 1MB) for review and feedback. The intention of this plan is to present an early-stage representation of the project, and act as a discussion tool to enable public feedback.

The Town sought applications from the community to be involved in a focus group to meet with the Town to further develop the concept design. We will notify applicants and schedule these meetings. Funding opportunities are being sought to assist with the delivery of this regional scale playground.
