Galup Greening Acceleration
- Project scheduleDecember 2024 to June 2025
Last Updated: 30/06/2025
The Town of Cambridge was awarded funding to deliver revegetation and tree planting works at Galup, through the Urban Greening Grant Program Round Three funding.
The Urban Greening Grants Program is delivered by the Town with the support of Western Australia Local Government Authority (WALGA) and funded by the Government of Western Australia.
The proposed works include revegetation planting along the banks of the lake to improve biodiversity and habitat, and park and street tree planting to improve the poor canopy cover in the area.
This grant funding will enable the Town to bring forward future planned works to 2025, enhancing tree canopy cover, shade, amenity, and biodiversity in a shorter timeframe.
The project will enable the Town to undertake site preparation works including weed control and mulching, plant up to 30,000 plants and water the plants throughout the warm seasons.
The Town will plant more than two hundred trees in consultation with local residents, during the project.
The Town will engage schools, organisations and other groups willing to volunteer their time to plant close to 30,000 revegetation species, including shrubs, ground covers, grasses, and sedges.
