Wembley Golf Course Driving Range Reopens for Golden Ball Activation
Published on 12 September 2025
The Town of Cambridge has completed the first stage of rectification and upgrade works at the Wembley Golf Course driving range, with the facility now fully reopened to the public.
The project, carried out between 21 July and 5 September 2025, delivered steel replacement, cleaning, painting, stormwater upgrades, and a complete renewal of the driving range façade, to the southern half of the building.
Works were completed on schedule and with minimal disruption to the wider facility, ensuring Wembley Golf Course continues to deliver on its reputation as Australia’s best public golf experience.
Town of Cambridge Chief Executive Officer, Lisa Clack, recently visited the site with the project team to view the completed works and meet with the project team.

“It’s wonderful to see this stage of works completed on time and to such a high standard,” Ms Clack said.
“The new façade is not only practical, protecting the building for the future, but it also celebrates the unique character of Wembley Golf Course. The design features the Perth city skyline, a view golfers can enjoy both on the panels and in real life as they tee off. This project is about more than renewal; it’s about enhancing the experience for our community and visitors.
“It’s also wonderful that we have completed the works to allow us to reopen in time to once again support the Perron Institute with their annual Golden Ball activation and Hold in One Day to raise much needed funds for Telethon and in particular to support youth mental health research efforts.
I encourage everyone to come down to the driving range and support this wonderful fundraising effort.”

Independent assessments prior to the works commencing had previously confirmed the building was structurally sound. The upgrades have therefore focused on extending the building’s life, improving weather resistance, reducing maintenance costs, and enhancing its aesthetic appeal.
The Town engaged Kilmore Group Pty Ltd to deliver the works, with specialist expertise in remedial building and façade systems. This first phase has renewed the southern half of the building, while further works are planned for mid-2026 to upgrade the northern end and three staircases.
By investing in these upgrades, the Town of Cambridge is ensuring the facility remains modern, safe, and welcoming for all, maintaining its standing as a premier public golf destination.
The Perron Institute Hole in One Day for Telethon is an annual fundraising event which raises vital funds for greater research into youth mental health. The event includes the golden ball activation which runs from 20 September to 12 October this year. During the activation, golden balls will be randomly inserted into the range hopper, giving players the chance to win a place at the Hole In One shootout on 12 October with a chance to win $250,000.
