A record crowd gathered at the Quarry Amphitheatre for Cambridge Library’s annual Teddy Bears Picnic on 8 October, with more than 270 people joining the celebration under sunny spring skies.
The popular event saw children and parents enjoying music, games and storytelling, with many taking the chance to pose for photos and share hugs with a giant teddy bear loaned by the Claremont Hotel.
Renata Garcia’s live singing and guitar had children dancing along, while Jonny led interactive action songs and storytime sessions. Families queued for face painting and watched members of the Wembley Theatre Company offer a lively preview of their upcoming pantomime Sleeping Beauty.
With Cambridge Library celebrating 60 years of service this year, Mayor Gary Mack joined the festivities and took part in a group photo for the Town’s local history collection.
The morning ended with parachute games — a joyful conclusion to a much-loved community event that continues to grow in popularity each year.
