Dog Registration

All dogs over the age of three months must be micro-chipped and registered with the Town of Cambridge or other Local Government Authority. If your dog is sterilised, registration will be at a discounted rate (upon proof of sterilisation). Registrations always expire on 31 October.


Step 1.Prepare your certificates

Ensure you have a completed copy of the relevant documents and certificates such as proof of microchipping and sterilisation (see below) if applicable.

Step 2.Registration

Complete the online New Animal Registration form or download and complete the Dog Registration Form(PDF, 98KB), ensuring you have completed this form accurately and in its entirety. 

Step 3.Payment

  • Pay by post: Cheque or money order payable to the Town of Cambridge, PO Box 15, FLOREAT 6014
  • Pay in person: Cash, cheque, EFTPOS, Money Order or Credit Card to the Town of Cambridge Administration Centre, 1 Bold Park Drive, Floreat between 8am and 5pm Monday to Friday.
  • Pay with Credit Card online via the 'Pay Animal Renewal and Registration' link on the Payment webpage (renewals only)


Registration Fees 

When you register your dog you will be issued with a tag with an ID Number and expiry date. The tag must be kept on your dog at all times along with an ID tag containing your contact details.

* Pensioner 50% discount applies to holders of a current Pensioner Concession Card or Seniors Card.


All dogs over the age of three months must be micro-chipped. To register your dog you must provide proof of micro-chipping.

A veterinarian (vet), vet nurse or suitably qualified person from a registered training provider is able to implant a microchip in your dog.

Unless you are a dog breeder there are benefits to having your dog sterilised.

  • Reduced registration fees
  • Reduction in unwanted litters
  • Less chance your dog will run away
  • Could calm your dog's temperament

Keeping more than two dogs

Approval is required to keep more than two dogs on a property in the Town, and approval is subject to an inspection of the property to determine its suitability to house more than two dogs.

Are you leaving Cambridge to move to another Council? Or moving into Cambridge from another Council?

This form makes it easy to transfer your dog registration between Councils. 

In the unfortunate event that your dog becomes deceased, let us know by completing a Deceased Animal form. 

If you have sold or passed on your dog, we require you to complete a Change of Ownership form so we are able to register the dog with the new owner.
