Iconic fundraiser returns: Will you run the City to Surf with us?
Published on 29 July 2025
The Town of Cambridge is once again proud to partner with the Activ Foundation to support the annual Chevron City to Surf for Activ, taking place on 31 August 2025.
This year’s theme, “Will you run the Chevron City to Surf for Activ with me?”, speaks to the community spirit behind the event – a call for West Australians to come together in support of people living with disability. More than just a fun run, it is about the shared journey from city to coast and the community that makes it possible.
The 4km course kicks off from McLean Park in Floreat, while the 12km course starts on St Georges Terrace in the Perth CBD. Both courses conclude at the beautiful City Beach Oval, which will be transformed into a family-friendly precinct featuring activities, entertainment, and more.
City to Surf has finished at Cambridge’s City Beach Oval for over 50 years, a fitting end point for a course that travels from the heart of Perth to the edge of the Indian Ocean. The Town, which literally runs from the inner city to the beach, has been proud to support this event since its early days.
The Town provides both financial and in-kind support to the event and hosts the Finish Line Carnival in City Beach – a celebration open to all, whether you’ve completed the race or simply come to cheer. Residents are encouraged to join the course or come along to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere.
Team Cambridge – comprising elected members, staff, and their families – will again participate, as it did last year.

Comments attributed to Town of Cambridge Mayor Gary Mack:
“This is a tradition that means a lot to our community. We’re proud to be the finish line for the City to Surf for Activ, and proud of our residents who make this event possible each year.
“The run has supported West Australians living with disability since 1974. Your support helps continue that legacy – whether you join the race, support from the sidelines, or simply show patience with road closures on the day.
“Team Cambridge will be back this year and we’d love to see more of our community running, walking or rolling to the finish line at City Beach. So – will you run the City to Surf with me?”
Comments attributed to Activ Foundation Executive Director Kelly Marshall:
“The Chevron City to Surf for Activ is more than just a race – it’s a celebration of inclusion, determination and community spirit. Every step taken on the course helps create greater opportunities for people living with disability in Western Australia.
“We are incredibly delighted to have the ongoing support of the Town of Cambridge and the thousands of West Aussies who turn out each year to run, walk or roll for a good cause. Together, we’re building a stronger, more inclusive community.”
