The Town of Cambridge is pleased to share that the Swing Driving Range at Wembley Golf Course will receive a Western Australian first digital upgrade in late 2023.

The Town’s Council voted unanimously to approve the request to install TrackMan Range, a world-renowned golf-ball tracking radar system. The TrackMan Range system comes with a variety of family-friendly games and other advanced features that can improve a players swing by giving live feedback direct to their smartphones or nearby screens. TrackMan Range is currently used by professional golfers, industry leading equipment manufacturers and thousands of coaches.

The recommendation to invest in upgrading the driving range comes after several years of research. Course management has been investigating the technology since 2019 and put forward the recommendation after listening to staff and patrons about ways to enhance customer’s experience.

Town of Cambridge Mayor Keri Shannon said she supports the decision and looks forward to seeing the benefits it will bring to the course and local community.

“This is incredibly exciting for the Town’s residents and wider golfing community. We expect that this new technology will attract golfers of all ages from all over Western Australia. We can’t wait to see the technology in full swing,” Ms Shannon said.

WGC will be the only driving range in WA that utilises the internationally recognised TrackMan Range system and will be the largest golf venue in Australia to install this technology.

Wembley Golf Course has a long history of innovating after becoming the first golf course in Australia to install automated ball delivery technology in 2010.

“We maintain that Wembley Golf Course delivers Australia’s best public golf course experience and this feeling is shared by many of our customers. For us to maintain this reputation, we must continue to innovate and build on the already high standards found at the course,” Ms Shannon said.

Construction is expected to begin in the coming months with the upgraded driving range open and ready to experience before summer.
