How the 2025 MARKYT Community Scorecard will shape the Town
The purpose of the 2025 Markyt Community Scorecard is to:
- Assess whether community priorities remain aligned with the Strategic Community Plan 2023 - 2033;
- Assess the Town's performance against objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) in the Town's SCP;
- Determine current community priorities and capture community voices; and
- Benchmark the Town's performance against our 2022 baseline other WA local governments.
The Community Scorecard report will also be used to inform continuous improvement in each of the Town's service areas. Community voices captured through the survey will be considered in the ongoing review and delivery of the relevant programs and services.
More about the Strategic Community Plan
What is a Strategic Community Plan?
The Strategic Community Plan outlines the vision, outcomes and strategic objectives of the community over the next 10 years. It's a strategic roadmap of where the community want to go and what it will look like when we get there.
The Strategic Community Plan must also be activated by a Corporate Business Plan, both of which should be informed by a Long-Term Financial Plan, Infrastructure Strategy and Workforce Plan.
Issue specific strategies and plans also inform and respond to the Strategic Community Plan. These provide the opportunity for the Town to dig deeper into community priorities on topics such as local area planning, disability and sustainability. They also communicate how to plans intends to work towards outcomes in these areas.

About the current Strategic Community Plan 2023 - 2033
The Strategic Community Plan outlines the Town of Cambridge community's long-term vision, values, aspirations and needs for the next 10 years, and guides the priorities for future Council projects.
The Town of Cambridge adopted a renewed plan on 22 August 2023 which established our vision as:
"A naturally beautiful Town that connects our vibrant community and thriving local economy from inner city to beach"
To achieve this vision, the SCP also sets out the following objectives;
- A community that fosters well-being, connection, and inclusion
- An attractive destination with abundant opportunities and thriving businesses
- A protected and enhanced urban forest featuring tree-lined streets, beautiful coastlines, natural bushland, and accessible open spaces
- A transparent organization committed to performance, leadership, and integrity

Why do we have to review the Strategic Community Plan?
The Department of Local Government, Sports and Cultural Industries sets the requirements for a Local Government’s Integrated Planning and Reporting Framework, including the Strategic Community Plan.
Under the Local Government Act 1995, a review of the Strategic Community Plan is required every two years, alternating between a minor and major review.
The Town is undertaking a minor review of the Strategic Community Plan 2023 - 2033 this year.
