ACROD Permits
A vehicle displaying a valid ACROD permit may park for double the time limit indicated on the sign when parking in a time-restricted parking bay. The vehicle must then vacate the parking bay when this time expires. ACROD (Australian Council for Rehabilitation of Disabled) permits can be obtained through the APP (ACROD Parking Program).
ACROD Parking Program
The State Government is covering the cost of two-year ACROD parking permits. ACROD parking permits are available for people unable to walk or whose ability to walk is severely restricted, either temporarily or permanently. Having an ACROD parking permit allows you to park in blue, marked accessible parking bays and in regular parking bays throughout the Town for twice the time limit indicated. For example, in a two-hour parking area, people with an ACROD parking permit are allowed to park for a maximum of four hours.
If no time restriction is signposted for a designated ACROD bay, there is no time limit regardless of whether other bays nearby have a time limit. Other than the 24-hour ruling where a vehicle must leave the street for one hour before returning. Parking in a time-restricted bay (non-ACROD) gives an ACROD holder double the time. However, if the bay is ticket parking, a ticket must be purchased, and double the time on the parking ticket is given to an ACROD permit holder.
Displaying Your Permit
Your permit is only valid if both the Australian Disability Parking Permit (plastic pocket) and the ACROD Parking Program Card are displayed together. You do this by inserting the ACROD Parking Program Card into the plastic pocket of the Australian Disability Parking Permit making sure your permit number and expiry date are visible.
If your Australian Disability Parking Permit (plastic pocket) needs replacing, please contact the ACROD Parking Program team.
