Around 400 community members gathered at the West Leederville Memorial Gardens and Cenotaph on Saturday, 25 April 2026 for the annual ANZAC Day Parade and Remembrance Ceremony.

Hosted jointly by the RSL Cambridge Sub-Branch and the Town of Cambridge, the morning began with a parade along Cambridge Street before attendees gathered for the remembrance ceremony at the Cenotaph.

The commemorative address was delivered by Alan Wilson, Secretary of the Cambridge RSL Sub-Branch, while Cambridge RSL Sub-Branch President John Murphy read the Ode and marched in the parade.

At 97 years old, Mr Murphy’s participation was a particularly special moment for the community.

A moving RAAF flyover took place at 8.15am, following a request from the Cambridge RSL Sub-Branch, adding to the significance of the morning.

Twenty-one wreaths were laid at the memorial by dignitaries, community groups and service clubs in honour of those who have served and sacrificed for Australia.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Mayor Ben Mayes, Cr Kate Barlow, Cr Michael Le Page, Cr Susan Kennerly, Basil Zempilas MLA, and a representative from the office of Kate Chaney MP.

Town of Cambridge Mayor Gary Mack said ANZAC Day remained one of the most important occasions on the national calendar.

“ANZAC Day is an opportunity for our community to pause, reflect and honour the courage, service and sacrifice of all Australians who have served our nation,” Mayor Mack said.

“It is heartening to see the Cambridge community continue to come together each year to remember and pay their respects.”

The service also featured hymns and the national anthem performed by Stella Kelly, whose moving performance helped create a reflective and respectful atmosphere for the ceremony.

The Town thanks the RSL Cambridge Sub-Branch, community members, service clubs and all those involved in delivering this year’s ceremony.

A photo album from the ceremony is now available on the Town of Cambridge Facebook page. Keep an eye out over the next week, as more photos will be added soon.
