Carols by the Lake will once again celebrate the festive season as well as the International Day of People with Disability (IDPWD), with the annual free event at Galup (Lake Monger).

There will be lots of children's activities including an animal farm, dodgeball and face painting as well as a visit from Santa. As part of IDPWD there will be a special community art activity run by DADAA, Rebound WA will be facilitating wheelchair basketball, Activ Heartbeats will be performing on stage, WA All Abilities will have their sensory container, Cycling without Age and a number of disability social enterprises will also be providing their services.

Additional Accessibility Information: 

Seating & Viewing 

  • The event is held on a grassed area, which may be uneven to walk on for some attendees. Please take this into consideration when planning your visit. 

  • Adequate space is available for mobility aid users to move comfortably throughout the event.  

  • We recommend bringing your own seating such as picnic rugs, fold-out chairs, or cushions to enjoy the performance comfortably. 

  • Some chairs and tables are provided in the food truck area for dining.  

Parking & Drop-Off 

  • Designated ACROD parking is provided in the main bitumen carpark. When entering, please inform staff of your requirement, and they will ensure you are given access.

  • If you need to drop someone off closer to the event, enter the main carpark and speak to traffic management. They’ll guide you to the nearest drop-off point. 

Facilities & Support 

  • Accessible toilets are provided on-site. 

  • A chill-out zone and sensory container are available for anyone needing a break from noise or crowds. 

  • Event staff wearing yellow high-vis vests will be roaming throughout the event. Please approach them if you need any assistance. 

  • An Auslan interpreter will be present. If you need a clear sightline, speak to event staff who can help you find a suitable viewing spot. 

  • Support animals and support people are warmly welcomed. 

Hidden Disabilities & Support 

  • This is a Sunflower Friendly event. Our staff are available to assist and can provide free sunflower lanyards, at the Town of Cambridge tent, to attendees with hidden disabilities who would like one.
